Fun and games at the Mayo Clinic
Apr. 16th, 2018 11:42 amWow, looks like things are getting messy at the Mayo Clinic. The pro-mutant groups are out there protesting against the ban on mutants giving blood and such, and now the anti-mutant folks have turned up. Things are getting tense.
I'm kind of conflicted. On the one hand, yeah it's totally bigoted to refuse someone's blood because of their genetic status. But on the other hand, mutants can have pretty funky powers and I wonder if that can impact their basic biology, including their blood? What if a particular power set made people getting that blood sick? Has there been enough research yet? Sort of like how Brits are perma-banned from donating because of Mad Cow - it's not because they're British, it's because they might have deadly consequences on the patients receiving that blood. Then again, screening is a lot better than it was in the HIV days...
