I had a look at this journal system thing before getting around to making my own post, and man, you guys have had a lot of new faces in the past month. I'll be the latest, at least until you get someone else.

My name's Monica Rambeau. I go by 'Nica sometimes, especially since there was one other Monica at my last school and it made it easier since she went by "Mon". I've spent the last 6 years overseas with my dad - he's in the military - and I just moved back Stateside from Germany.

I've been a mutant since May last year. I had no idea a place like this existed and I'm glad it does, since my dad's stationed in South Carolina and things are bad enough there for black people. Let alone a black mutant. But it does mean I'll probably have a billion questions about everyone and everything. Sorry in advance.

Full time lawyer, weekend mutant? weekend Xavier-ite? Whatever. Yes. There are problems currently with Existing While Black with some law enforcement. It's the same problem if you're Existing While Mutant and being unable to pass.

Passing? That's what it's called? Yeah, I can do that. I need to bleed off sometimes and stress isn't good, but I can manage school and all that stuff.

What else would you call it?

That makes things easier. It's sad that we have to have these kinds of conversations, but that is the world we live in for now. Change is slow, but we're trying.

How the hell would I know what to call it? It's not like you get an instruction book when you first do the mutant thing.
