Being Thankful
Nov. 20th, 2017 05:13 pmI'm not gonna use the "T-Day" word, since I don't want my sometimes roomie to reappear and drag my ass, but I did want to post something about the part of the upcoming holiday that isn't about appropriating land and native genocide. And that's being thankful for the past year's blessings. I think it's especially important after the past year being total trash, to think about the good things. Grandma used to make us name five things we were thankful for when we spent T-Day at her house, and I thought I'd share a home tradition with y'all.
Here's mine, NOT in any kind of order:
1) Getting into NYU and passing finals.
2) Learning more about my powers, thanks to the mad professors in the basement, Dr. Hank and Dr. Reed. ;)
3) My friends - even with all the crazy that being at the mansion attracts, I'm glad I wound up there since I got to meet a bunch of awesome people.
4) My dad and my grandparents are all okay.
5) People are getting more woke every day. There's a lot of work and a lot of haters, but it's encouraging to see people who never thought about the rights of others before realize they should and standing up for them.
Who's next?

Date: 2017-11-21 04:51 pm (UTC)1) My awesome, awesome wife (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2) My equally awesome awesome family and friends (sometimes they're interchangeable)
3) Having a safe, warm place to live, especially this time of year
4) Having a job that allows me to help people in any way I can
5) The good people in the world. They're there. Just gotta find them

Date: 2017-11-22 08:10 am (UTC)So I guess I can do this thankful thing.
1) Family. Even when we're running for our lives, I'd still rather be with them then without.
2) Friends. I miss you guys. I even miss QQ, and nobody should ever miss that guy. It's like a sign of madness.
3) The internet. Without which I would have no contact with at least one of the first two at all.
4) The Open road. If it weren't for the 'running for our lives' part, I could forget and this would be fun. There's so much muchness out here. I wish you could see it. Did you get the pictures I mailed? I used one of those old timey cameras and everything. Less likelihood they can be traced.
5) That wokeness you talk about. I don't know if I believe it yet. Too many times people do this shit when it's cool to do it and then forget later. (And fuck Lena Dunham, seriously.)
